Saudi Pro League clubs now reportedly feel they can sign Liverpool star Mohamed Salah for a cut-price fee in the upcoming January transfer window.

The Egypt international is out of form at the moment and Arne Slot has even dropped him to the bench for the club’s last two games against West Ham and Sunderland.

This situation has now seemingly given Saudi sides growing confidence about signing Salah for a reduced fee as they prepare moves for January, according to iNews.

What sources are saying about Mohamed Salah Saudi transfer

“Several senior figures at PIF (Saudi’s Public Investment Fund) and within the Pro League believe the power lies with them,” a source quoted in their report said.

“Mo’s form, unhappiness about not being in the team, Liverpool’s need to change something and the fact they have too many strikers all help push him to the Middle East.”

The piece adds that Saudi figures feel Salah was seriously tempted to join them earlier, despite the 33-year-old eventually ending up signing a new contract at Anfield towards the end of last season.

Is it time for Liverpool to let Mohamed Salah go?

Salah is a LFC legend, having scored 250 goals for the club since joining in 2017, helping them to two Premier League titles, the Champions League and other major honours in that time.

Still, even the best players come to the end eventually, and Salah simply looks past his best this season, failing to make anything like the kind of impact he’s made in the past.

With just five goals in 19 games so far, it could be worth thinking about letting Salah go and bringing in a replacement who is either already at his peak or just heading towards it in the next two or three years.

Antoine Semenyo could be ideal, and he’s recently been linked with Liverpool in another iNews report, so that would make sense as one to watch.
