A sixth-straight win would move them up another spot, putting them within striking distance of San Diego and Vancouver as they chase the conference title and aim to enter the playoffs in top form. LAFC also has an extra motivation to finish strong, which is to send off Cherundolo — who has announced he’ll step down at the end of the season to return to Germany, where he spent his playing career — on a high note.

Toronto FC, meanwhile, is in the opposite situation. The team has drawn its past eight matches and is mathematically eliminated from playoff contention.
